The Infamous Grand Salami!
- 21 June 2006
For the serious pro gambler, betting on the big four (football, baseball, basketball and / or hockey) the grand salami, as it is affectionately known, is not
going to be the bet that brings home the bacon - simply because you do not get the volume of bets required.
Yet the grand salami can be a good value bet
because the market is a niche area, so for the recreational bettor who wants a side bet or a change from
his betting routine - it is definately something to look at. It also gives the bettor an interest in every game being played.
Depending on the book you will find the grand salami a lot in MLB betting and a fair bit in hockey (NHL) - but some sportsbooks
carry the market into football, basketball and other sports. It can for example easily be applied to soccer.
So how does the grand salami work? Simply, you are betting on the combined total of every game on the board, so by default
have an interest in every game. It's a lot of fun. Effectively it is just a variation on the over /under market.
Have a go! This type of bet is offered at Gameday.
