Football Stadium In Meadowlands

The Jets and the Giants have agreed to build a new stadium in the Meadowlands. It will be the first NFL venue to be owned and operated by two teams. The new stadium will be built near Giants Stadium - currently among the league's oldest stadia.

Details about the plans are to be developed over the next several months, including its new name. Naming rights are likely to go up for bid.

Lawyer to Play Atlanta Falcons?

Buffalo Bills' safety Lawyer Milloy practiced on Friday but is still questionable for the game against Atlanta on Sunday due to a thumb injury.

Milloy practiced for the first time this week after undergoing surgery to a broken right thumb. Milloy will only play as a result of a last minute decision and if he gets the go ahead, will still have to wear padding over a cast protecting his hand.

Super Bowl Beckons?

...Well maybe not just yet but it has not gone un-noticed that the New York Giants are 2-0 this season and never in their history have they scored 69 points this early in the NFL year. The Giants will also be the only team to play 9 home games this term.

Before NYG fans get too excited however, they should remember last season when they started 4-1 and then proceeded to crucify themselves with an eight game losing streak..

Best to wait and see what happens this Sunday when they come up against the Chargers
in San Diego who will be desperate for their first win - before looking for deals on Super Bowl tickets...

Rice Retires as Greatest of All Time

Jerry Rice has retired and his induction into the Pro Bowl Hall of Fame is surely just a formality. That he was the best receiver ever can't be argued. The numbers speak for themselves. He caught 1,549 passes, in 303 games for 22,895 yards and completed 197 touchdown receptions.

It's unlikely he will be caught on those figures by any of today's stars...

Shoe Problem

Since a league-wide list of foot injuries from last season, the NFL is asking if it could be in the shoes.

"It's something that has not been looked at as carefully as it could have been..." said Elliot Pellman, NFL medical liaison and New York Jets physician, referring to shoe protective devices..

Injured feet will probably be the minor injuries in tonights opener between Oakland and New England - where the rivalry will be as intense as ever.

Saints Go Marching On

The New Orleans Saints are also homeless it seems. Driven from the Superdome by Hurricane Katrina, they will play their home opener against the New York Giants at Giants Stadium. It is not clear when the game will be played..
